Thieves
We have had a thief in the garden. Something has chewed off the heads of my broccoli and cauliflower plants and carried them away. I think perhaps a large rat? Very disappointing as they were almost large enough to eat. (plus a gratuitous chicken picture)
Piper at the park
There is a little park next to Luca's school that Piper likes to play at while we wait for her brother.
Cleaning party
The kids wanted to earn some money so I had them clean the bathroom. Not as thorough as I'd like but it was a good first attempt.

Family haircuts
We had Jana's mobile hairdresser over to give us all hair cuts. He did a lovely job and we are all very happy with our new shorter hair.
Matariki Festival
Piper had her Matariki festival at kindergarten. She made a lantern and we had a shared meal of soup and buns.

A bit of time in the garden
Piper, the cat and the chickens all joined me in the vegetable garden on Friday. We also spotted a praying mantis.

A trip to the Zoo and then too the beach
We had Luca's friend for a play on Friday. We had a trip to the Zoo but seven year old boys are almost too crazy for the zoo so we left and went to the beach where they could be as loud and rambunctious as they wanted. The beach was a bit chilly for me.

Unusual mushrooms
We have had these weird mushrooms growing for the past two winters. They seem to come up after very wet cool weather. They range in size from golf ball to soft ball. We call them Buckminster Fuller Mushrooms. Here is some information on them:
